The Arthrex CFS plating system combines many of our current midfoot, forefoot, and hindfoot plate and screw systems into one set (AR-8950S). The set is conveniently divided into 2.4/3.0 mm and 3.5/4.0 mm (AR-8950S-01 and AR-8950S-02) modules that house the new Metatarsal Plates, TMT Plates, x-Plates, and newly revised H-Plates. Also included in the set are the Lapidus, Lisfranc, Opening Wedge, and MTP Plates. Screws are provided in locking and nonlocking options for 2.4 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm sizes along with 3 mm and 4 mm cannulated screws. Presenting all of these components in one set gives surgeons the flexibility to choose the ideal plating system for any need. In addition, the new Mini Joint Distractor offers greater flexibility for joint preparation, visualization, and intraoperative compression of the fracture or fusion site.

Procedure

The 5th metatarsal fracture system is a comprehensively designed screw and plate system that offers surgeons a variety of options to efficiently and effectively treat complex 5th metatarsal fractures. The robust, solid titanium screws (4.5 mm, 5.5 mm, and 6.0 mm) range in size from 40 to 65 mm, offering more options to the surgeon. For the patient, the screws feature a small, low-profile head so there is less likelihood of soft-tissue irritation postoperatively. The system contains cannulated drills and taps for fast, reproducible results. The ergonomic drill guides are designed to achieve the “high and tight” position on the 5th metatarsal base.
 Another option is the low-profile hook plate designed for more comminuted proximal 5th metatarsal fractures. It features a compression hole and 2.4 mm variable-angle locking screws. The plate is appropriately sized and contoured for the 5th metatarsal bone, which is beneficial in difficult revision surgeries where a solid screw may no longer be a good option.

Post-traumatic arthritis is a common complication following Lisfranc injury. When conservative measures fail, patients may benefit from selective arthrodesis of symptomatic joints. Arthrex provides surgeons with low-profile plates, Nitinol staples, headless compression screws, and biologic augmentation to facilitate a successful fusion.

Lisfranc Arthrodesis

Arthrex has a wide array of midfoot plating options housed in the CFS set. The surgeon can choose from specific TMT plates, H-plates, Lapidus plates, dorsal midfoot fusion plates, medial column plates, or mesh plates. The instrumentation for these implants is straightforward and easy to use, assisting the surgeon with distraction, provisional fixation, and other elements of the procedure.
