The Clear Open Cannulas, with detachable handle option, facilitate instrument introduction by allowing the user to freely see the instruments entering the joint, while providing an unrestrained field of view. Manufactured from a shatterproof polycarbonate material, these strong cannulas resist bending. The tapered and blunt tips may eliminate iatrogenic cartilage or tissue damage during instrument insertion. Each can be used with a variety of quick connect handles that can be removed while the cannula is still in place. The Clear Open Cannula, used in conjunction with the AR-2001 Tear Drop Handle, is the perfect option for atraumatic instrument introduction and removal from the joint.

The tapered and blunt tips may eliminate iatrogenic cartilage damage due to forceful instrument insertion. Each can be used with a variety of quick connect handles that can be removed while the cannula is still in place. 
 
The Clear Open Cannula, used in conjunction with the AR-2001 Tear DropHandle, is the perfect option for atraumatic instrument introduction and removal from the hip joint.

Procedure

Under both fluoroscopic and direct visualization, hip joint access can be facilitated using the spinal needles and guide wires included in the Hip Arthroscopy Disposable Kits as well as the instrumentation included in the Hip Arthroscope System Set.

Ideal for passing curved instruments, open cannulas allow for quick portal exchange and easy introduction of working instruments into the joint. Use open cannulas to remove large loose bodies that will not fit through standard cannulas.

Arthroscopic treatment of posteromedial impingement utilizes a straight posterior and posterolateral portals. The posterolateral portal is used as a working portal and the straight posterior portal is used for insertion of the arthroscope. After thorougharthroscopic evaluation of the posterior compartment and removal of any loose bodies, the posteromedial osteophyte is removed with a small osteotome taking care to remove bone fragments with a grasper. The remaining tip is finished with a small burr or shaver, only removing enough bone to allow full extension without impingement. Chondromalacia of the fossa is debrided of any unstable cartilage flaps and abrasion chondroplasty is performed if necessary.
